In a letter to its founder Mrs. Hutchison shares, “I salute your powerful vision for women. As a woman who has been able to attain a position of leadership, I understand the importance of empowering women. Your contributions play a large role in the advancement of women everywhere.”
The Red Dress Society ‘Angel’ award concept was birthed by philanthropreneurs Angelina and Daniel Musik-Comp, both also founders of the 2x U.S. SBA Awarded MOMtrepreneurs Network that was launched in 2003.
The goal, (1) nominate women making a difference in the lives of others, (2) let their supporters and beneficiaries share achieved positive outcomes, (3) while promoting their cause, (4) and provide philanthropreneurs an opportunity to see these women in action as they campaign for results through the process.
Philanthropreneurs are entrepreneurial philanthropists that invest in the growth of social causes vs. just donating. They expect consistent updates on their investments and focus on strengthening an organization's financial sustainability through entrepreneurial endeavors.
Musik shares, “Daniel and I invest each year as Philanthropreneurs. It’s important for us to witness evidence of our investments being used to capacity. The Red Dress Society ‘Angel’ award campaigning process demonstrates the risk, assertiveness, commitment and confidence level of a nominee competing for their passion, their social cause.”
The 'Angel' award process is grassroots driven. Musik merged traditional marketing with web 2.0 methods to help the award process gain momentum and to expand nationwide through Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Similar strategies used the last decade on their clients: small businesses owners, Fortune 500 companies, and rural economic development and non-profit projects through their Intelligent Netware Company.
Musik will start holding Red Dress Society Retreats for women this spring to teach the intelligent use of media, marketing and web technology strategies. Topics also include: branding and social cause awareness, strengthening one's financial sustainability through entrepreneurial initiatives, improve volunteering, fundraising, modest donor recognition and consistent positive outcome reporting to the public.
December’s San Antonio Red Dress Society recipients of the ‘Angel’ awards share:
Tina C. Torres, whose running for 288th District Court Judge and received the ‘Public Servant’ Angel Award, shares “I was on a high for quite a few days after the event and will never forget the inspiration and the way you lifted everyone in the room.”
“We were very much honored to be a part of the Red Dress Society ‘Angel’ Awards event. Angelina and Daniel, I believe that you are really onto something in this endeavor. Keep it up and keep perfecting it,” says Janet Grigsby & Michelle Ryan who serve homeless youth through StandUp for Kids in San Antonio; they received the ‘Benevolent’ Angel Award.
Janie E. Lopez of NuStar Energy received the ‘Achievement’ Angel Award for her work through the San Antonio Youth Summit. “I hope that with all the friendships we made last night we can continue to make a difference in our lifetime. I love my Angel! I brought it to my office and have been showing it off to folks! This is an awesome organization!”
2009 Red Dress Society ‘Angel’ Award Recipients: Michelle Ryan & Janet Grigsby of StandUPForKids.com, (‘Benevolent’ Angel Award), Suzanne Huber of Morningside Ministries (‘Mercy’ Angel Award), Tracey Fontenot & Kacey Wernli of Kinetic Kids ('Compassionate' Angel Award), Scotiana Parish ('Collegiate Spirit' Angel Award), Annette Ortiz of SA Ladies Empowering Group (‘Heart’ Angel Award), Dorothy Morris of SAMM Ministries ('Humanitarian' Angel Award), Dr. Lorena Gonzalez of National Alliance for Hispanic Families ('Heritage' Angel Award), Tina Torres ('Public Servant' Angel Award), Janie Lopez of San Antonio Youth Summit (‘Achievement' Angel Award), and Tracy Frank of SARA - Society for Animal Rescue and Adoption ('Animal Welfare' Angel Award)
A couple seasoned philanthropreneurs commented: "The Red Dress campaigning for causes and awarding the women behind them is ingenious! To see these women confident enough to tell others to share the impact their work has made deserves to continue to be funded and recognized."
And, “Most people don't work hard enough to get exposure to folks like me who have money to help. The 'Angel' award process has made this so darn easy for these women! I've got my bet on whose gonna win!"
Daniel and Angelina Musik-Comp lead with the experience of growing their own social cause MOMtrepreneurs, launched in 2003. It won two awards from the Small Business Administration because of its early implementation of social community, media and web technology strategies to help grow the organization. It was recognized by Governor Rick Perry for its success in helping facilitate the success of women in business.
The Red Dress Society has becomes its 'helping women behind social causes’ focused division to be promoted full time across the U.S. starting 2010.
Daniel and Angelina Musik-Comps are also helping entrepreneurial couples through their Enterprising Couple Workshops starting January 2010, in the same Red Dress cities, to increase the success rate of its attendees in marriage and business, based on their personal challenges and successes as an enterprising couple.
